Yesterday’s earthquake, which hit China’s most populated province, Sichuan was felt in Suzhou, Shanghai and as far away as Beijing. I, like the Humanaught, didn’t feel a thing from my concrete palace, besides it’s not unusual for large cracks to suddenly appear on my ceiling and walls, comes with the territory.

Some did feel it here in Suzhou though,so here’s how it panned out in one of the busiest office buildings in Suzhou.

Natalia works in the Soverign building in the Financial district of the Suzhou Industrial Park. When the earth quake hit Sichuan yesterday the building begain to sway. At first natalia thought it was skipping lunch that was making her dizzy. Predicibly, common sense did not prevail and the lifts were immediately clogged in the ensuing evacuation.

Starbucks did a roaring trade that afternoon providing refreshments to the evacuees, the place was bulging at the seams. Which Starbucks? Glad you asked! The one on the ground floor of said evacuated building ofcourse!
